AnswerSome say less than 10,000 years ago, Martin Luther: 6,000 years ago. Common methods to prove this include the acumulation of helium in the atmosphere however this is based on the assumption that helium cannot escape the atmosphere. This has been disproven with the escape by solar winds and low-magnetic fields as well as an example of Mars where a meteor passed close by and took most of it's atmosphere with it.

There are several others some simply based on estimates from The Bible, however this is all disproved by radiometric dating that is all over this age. The oldest rocks on Earth alone are around 3.5 billion years ago and accepted age is about 4.55 billion years ago. Rock that is this old is hard to come by because much of the early rock on the Earth's surface has been destroyed by weathering, crust recycling, and the Earth's early molten state at its formation.

b) The amount of Sodium Chloride in the sea, also, is a small fraction of what the "old Earth" theory would postulate.
c) The Earth's magnetic field is decaying too fast to extrapolate a long age for the Earth.
d) The rate of accumulation of Moon-dust has been measured; and the amount of dust on the Moon was found to be vastly less than what scientists had predicted before the Moon-landings.

e) Helium is generated by radioactive elements as they decay. The escape of this helium into the atmosphere can be measured. According to the Evolutionary age of the Earth there should be much more helium in the atmosphere, instead of the 0.05% that is actually there.
