By saying "thank you" to an offended person, you will only offend them further. By saying "sorry" to an offended person, you attempt to let him/her know that you realize that what you have said or done is wrong and that you would like to offer an apology, in hopes that you would be forgiven and that the past would be forgotten.

Can a person call you a 'goofy bastard' in fun?

It basically means 'silly idiot'. However, it can be interpreted different by different people. I would think that it would be a mildly insulting joke, but that too can be interpreted different by different people. For example, if you called a sensitive person a 'silly bastard' they might be offended and take it personally, while a non-sensitive person would probably laugh and joke back.

What is butt-hurt?

I think butt hurt is when you get offended and you announce it. Like if you see a meme on social media, and you get offended. So you decide to troll the person or report them. A lot of people think being offended at all about something is butt hurt. But the difference is when your offended you just ignore it and move on. Burt hurt is when you won'tet it go. At least that is my interpretation of it.

Who says sorry offender offended or offensive?

Usually it is the offender, but there may be cause for the person who has been offended to say sorry; because of some misunderstanding on their part which caused the offender to act the way they did.
