There is nothing in Islam religion called Islamism or jihadism. There is Islam and jihad. The difference between them is that Islam is a religion per Qur'an revelation by God to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the angel Gabriel (or Jibril). However, jihad is the struggle ; practiced by Muslims and one Muslims; to get life requirements, raise up families, practice good morals and religion teachings as well as struggle to defend lands, homes, families, and religion against military attacks. When Islam interferes with politics it is called political Islam. When jihad is directed ti fulfill political goals it is called political jihad. Refer to related questions below.

Definitions
It is important to note, first that Islam is a religion, but Islamism is something else. It is a political ideology whose goal is to bring the religious tenets of Islam into the daily functioning of a government and its laws. Islamism is a modern movement whose roots began contemporaneously with the rise of Salafism in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Egypt. Islamism is not by nature violent or expansive. Many Islamist movements have concrete nationalistic goals such as the Islamists in power in Turkey.

Similarly, jihad is a tenet of Islam, but jihadism is a political ideology. Jihadism holds that the only way to establish Shari'a-compliant Islamic States is through violent acts of warfare. Although jihadism is a political ideology, as opposed to a religious tenet of Islam, it is strongly informed by Islamic religious doctrines on jihad. The rise of jihadism directly promotes violence.

Differences Discussion
The end-goal of Islamism and Jihadism are the creation of Shari'a Compliant state, but the organizations supporting one method or the other may differ in terms of methods. The first and most major difference is actually very similar to the division between Socialists and Communists. Islamists, like Socialists, hold that the method of obtaining power and moving in the proper direction can be achieved through either violent or peaceful means. Islamists have run in national elections in numerous countries (Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia) without any violent incidents starting in their camp (Secularists in those countries have often repressed or attacked peaceful Islamists in order to preserve religious liberties against possible incursions by Islamists).

Conversely, there have also been a number of Islamist movements that were inherently violent in their accession to power, such as the Taliban in Afghanistan or al-Shabaab in Somalia. Jihadist movements are similar to these more violent Islamists, holding similar to Communists vis-à -vis Socialists, that Islam can only be established as the regional government through violence and revolution. The most-talked-about Jihadist movement currently is Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Another difference is that Islamists range on a scale of "how Islamic" the Islamic State they wish to create must be, with rigid views on one end of the scale and very moderate views on the other. Jihadists are ideological purists who have a necessarily rigid view of how Law and Order should be administrated.

Islamic State is a Jihadist organization and a nexus can be built between the religion of Islam and the Jihadist political movement. However, most Muslims and even most Muslim clerics do not support the actions of Islamic State. This lack of support usually concerns specific actions that Islamic State has performed, like terrorism, beheadings without trial, enslaving people after the Ottoman Caliphs made agreements to ban slavery, and other particular issues. This condemnation by leading Muslim clerics almost never arises concerning Islamic State's goal of creating a country where Islamic Law is imposed, as opposed to a secular democracy.Islam and Jihad vs. Islamism and JihadismWe should first split off Islam and Jihad from any discussion about Islamism and Jihadism. Islam is a religion and Jihad is a religious concept within Islam about how to strive both for better morals and a more Islamic world. Islamism and Jihadism, however, are political ideologies. The goal of Islamism is to bring the religious tenets of Islam into the daily functioning of a government and its laws. Islamism is a modern movement whose roots began contemporaneously with the rise of Salafism in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Egypt.Jihadism not only wishes a particularly repressive version of Islamic Law to be instituted (Islamism), but believes that violence in defense of the faith is the preferred way to do this. Jihadism was developed in the middle of the 20th century since the secular dictators of the Arab World refused to give any quarter to Islamists in the political establishment. As a result, Islamists divided between those who would protest this estrangement from government and those who believed that violence was an appropriate way to overturn the secular governments. The latter group became the Jihadists.Scriptural Support for JihadismWhile Islam does not necessarily lead to or support Islamism and Jihadism, there are certainly Qur'anic verses that can be read by those seeking to be intolerant and violent of good grounds to do so. Jihad or Jihadism means 'struggle, striving, doing effort'. In Islam, Jihad means striving in the Way of Almighty Allah (God). In fact it is the Sacred Struggle made to maintain peace in human society which everybody should do irrespective of his religion.Very unfortunately, most of the non-Muslims, and many of the Muslims misunderstand Jihad. They confuse it with 'Killing'. It is not true. Jihad in Islam is of many kinds. The highest is 'striving' to control one's own animal, ruthless, brutal and evil passions. It is very difficult to remain cool and composed in the face of aggression. Islam demands 'patience' from its followers. Speaking truth, refraining from corruption of all kinds, being just to all humans and even all creatures, being honest in all matters of life, and being steadfast and upright in the face of temptation are among the actions which are the demand of Jihad of the Highest kind.Preaching Islam by the word of mouth and practicing it in one's daily life is also Jihad. Spending money in the way of Almighty Allah, doing acts of charity, helping the needy and the poor is also Jihad. When the enemies of Islam attack the Muslims, the Muslims must take up arms if negotiation fails and there is no alternative but to fight. Almighty Allah says in the holy Qur'an:Sura (chapter) Al-Baqra-2: Aya: 190; "Fight in the cause of Allah against those who fight you, --But do not transgress limits. For Allah does not love transgressors. Aya-193: And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah, but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who are oppressors."Thus it must be clear in the minds of the true Muslims that killing human beings in the name of religion is not permitted in Islam. Killing of one innocent human being irrespective of his religion, caste, color or country is like killing of all human beings in the Eyes of Almighty Allah (God). Almighty Allah has created all human beings and loves them all.

From a historical perspective Hinduism preceded both Islam and Islamism.

Islam is a religion that means submission to ALLAH. The people who submit to ALLAH are called Muslims. Islam, like any other religion, has holidays, traditional foods, forms of prayer, a theology, and forms of general societal organization. That depends entirely on what Western and Islamic Powers are willing to do about it. Fundamentally, a Western or Arab ground assault would be sufficient to eliminate them militarily, but the ideology of Islamism and Jihadism is incredibly prevalent, so it is killing those ideologies, which hold that an Islamic theocracy is a worthy goal, that require a much more intense effort.

This question is comparing apples to oranges. Judaism is a religion while Islamism is a political philosophy. Judaism is the religion, philosophy and way of life of the Jewish people. It is a monotheistic religion, with the Torah as its foundational text (part of the larger text known as the Tanakh or Hebrew Bible), and supplemental oral tradition represented by later texts such as the Mishnah and the Talmud. Judaism is considered by religious Jews to be the expression of the covenantal relationship God established with the Children of Israel. Islam is a religion. Islamism, however, is something else. It is a political ideology whose goal is to bring the religious tenets of Islam into the daily functioning of a government and its laws. Yes and No. They have the same general idea that the proper form of government is a theocracy where the civil laws of the land are derived from the Islamic Shari'a or Religious Law. The difference is that Islamism is usually national, so, for example, the Taliban only have aspirations to rule Afghanistan and the Waziristan region of Pakistan. They are not interested in some international coalition of Islamists. Pan-Islamists believe that the world should be united under one Islamist theocratic government.

ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), known as ad-Dawla al-Eslamiyya al-3iraaq w'ash-Shaam or the acronym Daa3esh in Arabic, is an extremist Sunni Islamist organization. It is important to clarify what Islamism is. While Islam is a religion, Islamism is a political ideology whose goal is to bring the religious tenets of Islam into the daily functioning of a government and its laws. Islamism is a modern movement whose roots began contemporaneously with the rise of Salafism in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Egypt. ISIL practices a particularly violent form of Islamism called Jihadism, which not only wishes a particularly repressive version of Islamic Law to be instituted, but believes that violence in defense of the faith is the preferred way to do this. Jihadism, like Islamism, is a political ideology rooted in Islamic religious concepts, but distorted. The distortion here is that there are many ways to advocate on behalf of the faith and the choice to exclusively use violence is a misinterpretation of the doctrine.ISIL used to have links to al-Qaeda before al-Qaeda condemned them for their barbarity. They are fighting to bring the Sunni majority into power, especially in Sunni majority regions of both Syria and Iraq, and impose a more fundamentalist view on politics and religion. They consider themselves to be fighting the injustices and violence of the current Assad regime and the inequalities of the US-supported Government of Iraq. They intend to restart a new Caliphate or Islamic State which will reconquer all territories that were under the authority of Muslim-majority states at some point in history.

There is NO Islamic Terrorism. Terrorism has no religion. No religion of the world permits killing of innocent human beings. Islam teaches that all human beings are the off-spring of a single couple- Hazrat Adam AS and Hazrat Eve AS. They are all brothers. According to the teachings of the Qur'an, the holiest and most sacred Book of Islam, killing of One innocent human being (irrespective of his caste, color, religion, region, country, is like killing all human race. I am a Muslims. I strongly condemn the ruthless killing of innocent human beings, be it in Paris, London, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan or any other part of the world. I feel for the bereaved families and the departed souls. Many Muslim countries are facing terrorism, especially in Pakistan thousands of Muslims have been killed by the so-called Muslims. Let us raise our voice jointly against terrorism in the world. Let us try to wipe out hatred from this unfortunate planet. All humans have been created by Almighty God, and He loves them all. The merciless murder of innocent people in Paris has shocked every human being, irrespective of religion.

It is usually seen as being a form of religious conservatism. Countries where Islamism has become the ruling power, such as Iran from 1979 to present, Afghanistan from 1991-2001, Turkey from 2002 to present, the Gaza Strip from 2007 to present, and Egypt from 2011-2013, have several political trends. Most of them have pushed towards more conservative dress, pushed towards having Shari'a to be more central in governance, decreased or weakened relationships with West-leaning states, and increased antagonism towards Israel and religious minorities.
