You mentioned the Pope, let"s start with the Clergy- ordinary parish priests or ministers are permitted to marry, but cannot remarry if their wives die. The wife of a Priest or Minister is called a Matushka- lit. Little Mother. This is an honorary title, they do not wear any specific costume or preach, etc. The Russian Orthodox religion is not in any heavy-duty sense ( maybe one or two exceptions such as the Alexian brotherhood) involved in health care. they don:t run hospitals- so are not trying to impose any medical doctrine on what they consider ( abnormal) or(Immoral) medical practices. they do have theoretical doctines on such, but no way to enforce the medical angles. in general they discourage abortion, but , well there is the (Assault Provision)(Up to twelve hours after the assault you can do anything to repel the intruder ( downstairs) I may not be quoting this exactly. except for a forcible assault normally one does not flood the decks! so it goes. The Bishops of the RO church and Greek also are required to be celibate. There are Nuns of the Basilian order and possibly others in the Russian Orthodox protocols.

Were the Orthodox and Catholic religions the same at one time?
