The model 64 was nothing more than an upgraded model 94. Virtually any option you could get on a model 94 was also available on a model 64. The main exception being the cal. 219 zipper. Some older cal. that were available on the 94 could not be had on the 64, but by then they were probably not available on the 94 either. The model 64 came standard with special features that were only available at extra cost on a model 94. Pistol grip stocks and a 24" barrel were std. on a model 64 ( the 219 zipper had a 26" barrel). The main difference is that the 64 is issued standard in a rifle configuration and the 94 in a carbine configuration. It was probably cost effective for Winchester to do it this way.
Model 64 were made in 2 different time frames 1933 to 1957 and again from 1972 to 1974. The later ones being in 30-30 cal. only. If you happen to have a 64 in the rare 219 zipper cal. get a body guard.
