They two terms only differ in usage, and reference differences in size, scope, and quality of the attractions.

The term, regional park, is usually used for smaller parks with smaller collections of attractions with more local appeal, and which largely draw tourists from the closely surrounding areas, usually for one day.

The term, amusement park, is often used for large parks with large collections of attractions, and which draw many tourists from all over the world, who often come for visits of several days.

the difference is theme parks have a certain theme like Christmas or a holiday theme and amusement parks are just like huge fairs or an amusement park would be place without a specific country's or continents or holidays to go along with certain sections like a theme park would. an amusement park really only has rides to "amuse" you. an example of a theme park would be Busch gardens in Virginia which has a whole bunch of areas(whch are named after countries in Europe) and food and food you would find in Europe. an amusement is really just like a "huge fair" that only has rides to stay in one place unless the owner knocks one of the rides down.
