It had/has its own language known as Dalmatian (a member of the Romance language family, along with French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian, Catalan, Sicilian, Aragonese etc), has its own cuisine, traditional dancing, clothing, folk music everything that defines a country. In AD 925 it was annexed (made part of) by Croatia. On June 10, 1898, the Dalmatian language sadly, became extinct when the last known speaker Tuone Udaina died of an bomb explosion.
