It's not weird at all. Simply apologize and say that you got busy or someone asked you to do something. Now if you're the honest type like me then tell the truth and say you fell asleep and try to come off as being good natured or make a joke out of it.

How do you know if the person you are talking to is asleep?

They don't answer. :) If you're talking about texting, I usually wait about 10 minutes for them to respond. If they don't within that amount of time, that usually indicates that they've probably fallen asleep. If they end up texting you a half an hour later, it's their loss! Answer their text in the morning. If you're talking about a phone conversation, usually they don't respond to you when you ask them questions or talk to them..? So hang up! The same thing goes if you're talking to someone in person. However, if you've made them fall asleep, obviously you've done something wrong! Spice up the conversation! Hahaha..well anyways I hope that answered your question and I hope it wasn't too much of an obvious answer! :)

How com no one talks to people?

Sometimes you need to be the person that speaks up. If you feel that no one is talking, or people will not talk when you are around, strike up an interesting conversation. Try starting a conversation that you know would keep people intrigued, something that you are very interested in. If you are boring, the people will be turned off. There's a saying "If the crowd is asleep, wake up the speaker". If you have a lively interactive conversation, then people will begin to talk. :)
