Chakra means "wheel" in Sanskrit, they are said to be the swirling centers of energy within the bodyand play a role in both yoga and Buddhism. Each chakra is linked to a specific part of the body, along with a color and gemstone. The first is the Root Chakra and it is the grounding force. It connects our physical being to earth's energies, it's color is red and the stone is garnet

The first chakra is the base chakra. Sometimes known as the root chakra, or by its Indian name of Muladhara. It is the foundation of life. It is positioned at the very base of the spine. It governs procreation and represents our will to live. Its element is earth and its symbol is a four-petaled lotus flower. The colour used to represent the first chakra is red.
