The first organ to receive carbohydrates after the small intestine is the liver via the portal vein.
That would be the liver. Blood coming from your intestines go through a system called the portal system which is brought to the liver via the hepatic portal vein. Anything that you eat or drink will be brought to the liver for modification and assimilation so that the rest of the body can use it.

liver
The organ that willreceiveit first is the organ which the blood reaches.Digested carbohydrates will either have become glucose, fructose or galactose, with the exception of digestive fibers that will be converted to short chained fatty acids by bacteria in the large intestine. Glucose unlike fructose and galactose will not need to be transported to the liver after absorption forconversionto either glucose or fatty acids.

Absorbed glucose from the intestines will be directly released into the blood stream and supply energy to energy demanding cells. If most cells in the body has been saturated then the rest of the excess glucose in the blood stream, remember that there is a blood sugar level that needs to be kept, then the first solution is to saturate the glykogenstoragein the liver and muscles. The second solution will be to convert the glucose into fatty acids via de novo lipogenesis, this is energy demanding and notpreferredby the body.
