Answer # 1 Very interesting question. First you must understand what the word philosophy means. Its from two Greek words philos and sophos. Philos means great affinity or love for and sophos means knowledge, wisdom, truth, Some actually indicate enlightenment.

The second thing to understand is that Athena is the goddess over all knowledge or wisdom as the Greeks believed. The city of Athens is named for the goddess Athena

The doctrine known as Philosophy or Philos-Sophos was developed in Athens, and developed in honor and reverence to its patron goddess Athena. Philos-Sophos is actually the testament to mans discoveries of knowledge using specific methods to determine what man considers to be the truth, the most notable of these methodologies is the dialectic. According to philos-sophos doctrine truth is derived by men via specific methodology as a testament to Athena and not proclaimed at the mouth of prophets as stated in Biblical texts.

Its important to study philosophy, simply to understand is historical significance as the doctrine which is the Basis for the ideas and proclamation of its self made prophets.
