Well, The rooms were all used differently, but it worked kind of like this.
The Solar:
The Solar was the royal or noble family's private living room where, after a long day they could be alone. The children would play, the wife would paint and the husband would read by the fireplace.
The Chapel: The chapel was the church inside of the castle, at the beginning of the age this was a small room, but later on it became a huge room. The family there would attend daily services, and on Sunday the workers would go along with the family.
The Gatehouse: The gatehouse was the place where visitors were welcomed, it was also heavily guarded. During an attack, the defendants of the castle would drop rocks, sand and other thing down on the intruders.
The Treasury: The treasury was where the King's throne was, he would sit there and discuss matters with the Lords, Knights, Nobles, and so forth. This was the way feudalism worked.
That's as much as I can say, I think that the kitchen and the dungeon are obvious enough, the garden and the bedrooms too. Hope this helps.
The great hall in a castle was used for well...everything. Depending on the rank of the lord, it could be used to hold court and hand down judgments, settling disputes of the minor lords and freemen under him.
In the evening the great hall became a place for the high table, feasting and revelry. Many times the lord would open his castle to travelers and offer "Christian hospitality" of a free meal and a safe place to bed down for the night - yes, also in the hall. Bandits roamed freely and camping on the trail could be quite dangerous. Bringing travelers into the keep also encouraged trade and the exchange of news from all over the land.
If I remember correctly, the corridor and separate rooms were a creation of the Victorian age, so in a medieval castle, there was very little privacy. The main floor would be the great hall, with the kitchens separated or minimally connected to prevent the risk of fire catching the entire keep ablaze.
Not every castle follows this exactly but that's the general premise.
As the main chamber of the castle all business and social activities took place here.

In most castles the "great hall" would not be central, but positioned against the inside of a curtain wall near the main gateway so visiting dignitaries would not have to go far inside the castle. The building would be heavily decorated and painted to impress visitors. At Henry II's stone castle at Canterbury, Kent, built in about 1125 to replace an earlier motte-and-bailey castle, the great hall was immediately inside the Worth Gate on the castle's south side. This building was later re-used as a court house. Its position is marked as "D" on the map in the link below. At the Tower of London, William I's early stone castle, the site of the great hall was again inside the curtain wall and to the south (marked as x on the map in the link below) - but it no longer exists today.
