The Caspian Sea, even though it's called a "sea" is a large brackish lake, with freshwater in its northern sections. It covers 143,243 square miles. Its depth is as deep as 3,363 feet. The Caspian Sea is surrounded by Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.

*The Black Sea is larger, but while it looks like a lake, it is currently a hydrologic extension of the oceans through the Mediterranean Sea and the Turkish Straits. The Caspian Sea was likely a part of the oceans in prehistoric times.

The largest freshwater lake by volume is the very deep Lake Baikal in southern Siberia at 23,600 km3 (5,700 mi3). This is more than all five of the Great Lakes combined.

You need to define "lake" and "largest" a little better to get an answer to your question.

The largest "lake" if you include saltwater bodies is the Caspian Sea.

The largest freshwater lake by surface area is either Lake Superior or Lake Michigan-Huron if you consider the two named lakes as a single body of water (there is some justification for this, as the two are only separated by the Straits of Mackinac and are at the same elevation). The largest freshwater lake by volume is Lake Baikal, which has a smaller surface area than either Superior or Michigan-Huron, but is very deep (over a mile deep in places) and therefore has a higher volume. It's estimated that Lake Baikal by itself contains approximately 20% of the fresh water in the entire world.

Depending on how you define "largest" ...

The Caspian Sea is the largest "lake" in the world, but it's saltwater.

Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area, but ...

Lakes Michigan and Huron are named as separate lakes, but are at the same level and connected by the Straits of Mackinac (as opposed to being connected only by a river); if you consider Lake Michigan-Huron as a single body of water, it has a greater surface area than Lake Superior.

Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake in the world by volume. It's also the deepest.
