There is no law in Georgia that specifies an age for babysitting. The child has to be safe, feel safe and know how to handle and emergency situation. Most would think that a 12 year old could handle a four year old for a couple hour during the day.
A child can legally live alone by themselves at age 18 in Georgia. At age 14, a child can choose which parent they would rather live with.

Well you can answer these questions: Are they responsible? Are they trustworthy? Are they respectful? Do they take pride in themselves? Are they caring? Are they fair with others? (if babysitting) If mostly Yes to these questions your child is ready to stay home alone. If mostly No to these questions your child is not recommended to stay home alone.
