Parental consent is needed if under 18 years of age. If you are between 16-18 years of age, one of your parents or guardian must be with you and provide written consent. If you are under 16 years of age, you will need both the written consent of your custodial parent or guardian and the written approval of a judge of the Orphans' Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas. If you are under 18, pregnant or have a child, and show a certificate from a licensed physician stating you are pregnant or have had a child, the parental consent requirement may be waived.

A person must be 18 to get married in Maryland. If they are under 18, parental consent is required, though there are exceptions:

  • If the woman to be married is pregnant or has given birth, and a licensed doctor provides a certificate of such, then a person age 16 or 17 (be it the male or female of the couple, or both) can get married without consent of the parent.
  • If a party is 15 years old, then a marriage is only legal if they have parental consent and the woman is pregnant or has given birth.

A person 14 and under cannot get married at all in Maryland, no matter the circumstances.

That depends entirely on the church and the person ministering at that church.
