The 2.2 liter 4-cylender is also in the Mercury Mystique, which i bought new in 99 and drove it for 10 years, mostly interstate travel. I used 10w30 oil every 6,000 miles. After a quarter of a million miles(250,000), I traded it in. They last a good long time with proper maintainence. Over the years I replaced 1 thermostat, 2 batteries, two coil packs, 1 valve cover gasket, 1 timing belt and 16 valves. It was still running strong when I traded it in. I also have a 2005 Ford escape that I bought new with that same engine, and it now has 77,000 miles and still runs like new. I only ever used 87 octane fuel.
