Car batteries use concentrated sulfuric acid. It is very caustic and can burn skin and clothing. DO NOT pour it out of the battery. Many auto parts stores will take old batteries for recycling because of the dangers of the acid and lead plates inside.

The initial fluid in new batteries is as above (Take Note Of The Good Advice Given Above Too) when in use this is topped up with Distilled water or de ironised water throughout the battery life
