I was bitten by a copperhead in 1981 on the foot. The bite immed. started swelling, lots of pain like a super bee sting that doesn't stop, next was the feeling of throwing up. I went to the ER and by then the area around the bite fangs were turning into blue red 50 cent piece. The ER tested the anivemon in my arm but the swelling was now all the way up my thigh. I received two injections one in each thigh. (5'6" and 100lbs). The leg was packed in ice and I was on an IV. the leg continued to swell and again another dose was given in my buttocks. By this time my foot was bigger than a football, and shinny tight with the swelling. I could not bend my toes, ankle or bend (very little ) my knee. At The fang site the skin and tissue turned black.

In the end I have loss the ability to bend my "PINKY" toe, I have constant pain like RSD in my foot. If I hike for several hours my foot swells some. Not sure if related but Since the bite I have been anemic, even with taking supplements, and a healthy diet. I exercise daily to keep the blood flow to the foot, to maintain healthy tissue, and keep the sensory nerves working. I do not want to let a vascular neuropathy set in.

The other weird thing, before snake bite if I got stung by a wasp I had a reaction of redness, swelling, pain and heat. Now... very little reaction. A slight prick feeling, no heat, no redness, and no swelling.

Hope this helps.

What snakes are venoumes?

This may be a trick question. If you are asking what snake has the most venom. That is the spitting cobra. It expels its venom in long streams to hit its preys eyes to blind it and then it can bite. If you are asking what is the most poisonous snake. That would be the black mamba snake. Its venom can kill a man in minutes. i would say taipan is the most venomous snake not the black mamba

Can venom be removed from a snake permanently?

Venum cant exactly be removed from a snake permantantly, because it is patrt of there blood type and they cannot purify there blood. Although some scientists have done it before, in nearly 2-3 years the venum transformed through another animal to the snake. This may alos depend on the snake, such as a rattling snake< the venunm can be removed but it comes back over time from another animal. You many think venom can poison a snake... but it doesnt! As long as it comes from the same origin or breed of a snake, there own venom cant be poisoness.

What is the most poisonous snake in the desert?

Crotalus scutulatus (common names: Mohave rattlesnake, is probably the most venomous snake in the Mojave Desert. Its venom contains a neurotoxic component that is capable of killing a human being in just a few hours.Just as a point of clarification, a poison is a substance that one must eat to be affected. A venom, such as that of a snake, must be injected. Therefore, a snake is venomous, not poisonous. Most snake venoms can be safely consumed with no problems (as long as you do not have an open sore in your mouth or stomach or digestive tract. The venom must get into the blood stream to kill.
