Dogs The Longest Running Musical in Off-Off Broadway History - 2002 was released on: USA: 20 October 2002 (Los Angeles International Short Film Festival)
when a show is "off Broadway it means that the show is still playing, but no longer playing in a Broadway theatre. This is not actually true. A show that is running off Broadway may or may not have ever been on Broadway. Many shows start off-broadway and get picked up to move into a Broadway theatre. And many more ONLY run off-broadway.
The longest running Broadway show in the U.S. is The Phantom of the Opera (which is still playing on Broadway today!)The 2nd longest show is Cats (Which left the Broadway stage on Sept 10, 2000 I believeI think that The Fantasticks is the longest running show in American history. It closed in 2002 after a 42-year run (more than twice as long as Cats). It is also credited with being the longest running musical in the world.Actually the longest running play in the USA is "The Lost Colony" which has been running I believe since the late 1930's in Manteo NC...about the Sir Walter Raleigh colony that disappeared with only the engraved word "Croatan" on a tree remaining.
The musical was first seen at the New York Theatre Workshop in 1994. On January 26, 1996, Rent opened in New York City off-broadway before moving to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre on April 29, 1996. Rent has been successful on Broadway, where it had critical acclaim and word-of-mouth popularity. With more than 5000 performances, it is the seventh-longest-running Broadway show,[5] and the production has grossed over $280 million
Most people think the difference is one is ON Broadway and one is NOT. This is not true. There are many Broadway shows that aren't literally on Broadway. The main difference between a Broadway show and an off-broadway show is the size of the house (number of seats). The tickets are also cheaper and the production value usually cheaper.

The Broadway musical version of The Lion King premiered in Minneapolis, MN in 1997. It opened on Broadway in NY in 2006, and it's still running today. If you count the touring show that premiered in '97, the show has been running for over 15 years, and is the 7th longest-running Broadway show in history!

It differs every year. It depends on if they are Broadway, off-Broadway, independent of Broadway and a few other factors.
The only listing for a Broadway show that starts with the letter Q is Quilters, from 1984. In 1996, there was an Off-Broadway show called Quadrophenia.
