Outside commercial facilities, raw HDTV signals do not travel on co-ax. In a production studio, an HD signal will travel up to 500 feet as an uncompressed full bandwidth HD signal. This signal format is not seen outside the studio. Once the signal has been prepared for broadcast, it is in a compressed format and carried to a transmitter, satellite base station or put onto a cable for distribution to homes. In the case of cable operators, the main trunks are normally fiber optic with the drops to each house either on co-ax or fiber. Whatever solution is chosen by the cable company, it is engineered to provide reliable service to each home using specific cables and connectors.

Once the signal has been received by a cable, satellite or terrestrial receiver, it is output as an HDMI signal. There is virtually no equipment that will output HD in any other format.

HDMI is a multiple twisted pair cable rather than co-ax and has a maximum length approaching 100 feet. In terms of the best HDMI cable to use, it is important to use a cable that has been tested and approved by the HDMI organization. If the cable passes that quality test, it will work as well as any other cable, regardless of cost or any other claim by cable manufacturers. If an HDMI cable works, it will deliver the signal without any corruption, so claims by manufacturers that they offer the "best quality" image are without substance. In essence, the cable either works or it doesn't.

If your tv does not have a HDMI socket will you be able to receive hdtv?

Yes. HDTV signal can be used through HDMI, use the Component connections (not to be confused with composite) if your set has it, if not, then s-video and video would all be better than Coaxial cable.

What coaxial cable supports HDTV?

I could be wrong, but I believe you are talking about an HDMI cable. Between the antenna and the TV set use RG6 cable.

What is the easiest way to get HDTV from your antenna to your projector?

Coaxial cable, RG6u or RG 59u. The RG6u has less loss for longer cable runs.

Is coaxl input on tv HDMI?

The coaxial RF input on a HDTV will process a HD signal but it is not an HDMI input.

What purpose does a vga to HDMI serve?

VGA to HDMI cable convert an analogue signal to a digital signal. It does this by connecting an audio cable to the adapter, where the video signal is fused with the audio also, so there is only one cable connecting to your HDTV.

How do you get the best out of your sony LCD tv?

Give it a good signal, using good cables. Doesn't matter whether or not you've a signal from an antenna, cable box or satellite dish or DVD. If it's an HDTV, of course, providing a HDTV signal is even better.

If your HDTV screen is all blue?

This indicates there is no signal on the input you are looking at. The TV set has numerous inputs, be sure there is a cable and signal on the input you have selected.

Can you use coax cable for digital?

Yes. Coaxial cable is the preferred method for carrying the signal. The important factor is the frequency of the signal that is being carried by the cable. Most coaxial cable that you will want for carrying your signal will be RG-6. This will handle signals for radio, television, and satellite receivers. It is not important whether it is an analog or digital program. Some manufacturers use a deceptive advertising technique and will emphasize that their cable is for digital signals. They want you to think that another competing product that does not make a claim to be for a digital signal is not suited for digital. The cable doesn't know the difference between a digital or an analog radio frequency signal. It handles both of them in exactly the same manner. Some important specifications to consider when selecting a coaxial cable are: -Bandwidth (what frequencies can it carry) -Attenuation (how well does it carry the signal without weakening it) -Impedance (proper impedance matching helps to carry the signal - most cable will be 75 ohm and will need to be used for 75 ohm equipment, 50 ohm cable for 50 ohm equipment) Don't use a long cable when a short one will do. A longer cable attenuates (weakens) the signal more. RG-59 can be used for short distances, but RG-6 is a much better choice. RG-59 is not a good choice for HDTV or satellite signals, but it can be used for connecting a VCR to a television.

What is the cable called that hooks your tv to dish?

Coaxial cable RG-6 is used for satellite TV wiring. If you have a HDTV, you would want to use a HDMI cord from your Dish Network receiver to your television. This will give you a great picture!

Can you connect the ps3 to a hdtv?

Yes, you can connect a PS3 to an HDTV by a component cable or an HDMI cable.

Starting from an HDTV cable box using a split cable going to the pip output can you connect another tv to the pip output and get an HDTV picture on the other tv?

Hi, It really depends on your PIP output on the cable box and whether or not the output is HDTV or standard TV. And in some cases, the PIP output will only display non-HDTV channels, depending again, on the box and the cable company. However, IF the cable company says that a HDTV signal is available from the PIP output on the cable box, then it'll probably work. The only way to be sure is to connect a TV and find out. Hope this helps, Cubby

Why my hdtv can get signal from my antena?

An over the air television through an antenna is what people used to use back in the golden age of television, before there was anything like a coaxial cable, and when there were three or four channels at the most. OTA channels still very much exist and with the OTA update that was made when it became clear that HD was here to stay, you can now get HDTV antennas and watch those major channels with a crystal clear picture, without befooing tied down to a cable provider.
