Should never take more than 16mg at a time, and only take that amount if you have been taking other high doses of opiates for an extended period of time. Even then suboxone should not be taken until all opiates are completely out of your system or you risk getting VERY sick, trust me on this. Wait at least 12 hours before taking suboxone after your last use of an opiate, unless it is methadone in that case you will need to wait at least 48 hours. The antagonist you speak of is called naloxone, which is also know as narcan and is used to treat overdose of opiates. But when suboxone is taken sublingually(under your tongue) most of the naloxone is rendered inactive. It is mainly in there to keep people from "shooting up" the suboxone. Bupremorphine is active ingredient in suboxone and is a semi-synthetic opiate itself. That is what take away the withdrawal symptoms. Message me if you have any other questions about Suboxone.
UPDATE!!-- Bruce5890
Dosing higher then 16mg is ok. I believe the maximum dose before the naloxone starts working is 32mg. I know this is true because my doctor asked if I needed a higher dose and I am already at 24mg and sometimes takes 32.
You can take methadone after suboxone but do not take suboxone after methadone. If you have any opiates in your system and take suboxone, you will go into withdrawal......
Grapefruit Juice
my geuss is no...suboxone blocks your opiod receptors, and tramadol is an opiate...try skipping a suboxone dose one day and take tramadol, best of luck to ya
It depends of dose.4 hours for every .mg.For example:8 mg - 32h.
As long as you're not taking massive amounts of the Suboxone (like, more than two 8-mg pills) yes, the Vicodin will still work as a pain killer, even though you won't get high from it. You will probably have to take a double dose of it, though, or even a triple dose, depending on how much Suboxone you are taking. I am on Suboxone and last autumn I had a root canal, and the oral surgeon prescribed Vicodin for me, but I had to take double doses of it to get enough relief from the pain. I also had to cut my Suboxone dose in half (I was taking 8-mgs per day and cut it down to 4). Whatever you do, don't stop taking the Suboxone completely, because if you completely stop taking it you will have to wait until you're in extreme withdrawal from the Vicodin before you start taking Suboxone again. If you stop taking the Suboxone, and then start taking it again before you're in heavy withdrawal from the Vicodin, you will experience the worst, most horrible withdrawal symptoms you can imagine. You will get really, really sick.
Clonazepam is not an opiate, so you can take it even if you're already on Suboxone. A few years ago I was prescribed clonazepam, on top of my regular dose of Suboxone. Just don't take more than a normal dose of either drug: as they are both depressants, there is a risk of overdose if you take too much.
Hi I was wondering if it was okay to take Suboxone while taking high dose of Insulin? I'm very concerned about a friends health.
I suppose so, if you take massive doses of them, but not if you're taking a normal dose. I was prescribed klonopin for alcohol withdrawal, while I was taking Suboxone.
When I took suboxone i was violently ill.. i was puking for 2 days straight.. my doctor tried to lower my dose then raise my dose.. nothing worked.. nomatter what i threw up constantly.. he changed it to subutex and i still puked.. i dont know what will work for me.
I take 1mg or two of kolonopin, with 10mg of lexapro with 4-8mgs of suboxone. it works great for me, but you'll have to be very careful not to exceed more than 3mgkolonopin or a high dose of suboxone such as 16-24mg.
Methadone and Suboxone should not be taken together. Mixing these medications will cause severe withdrawals no matter how much of each is taken.
Yes, suboxone really will have no affect in your daily life unless you take a high dose. Most people think you can get high from suboxone but you really don't, and if you do it won't happen again, everyone has their own opinion.
