Whatever icons YOU choose to pin !... It's entirely up to you !
You have to first enable the quick bar. Once this is enabled you can put icons next to the start button. Right click on the task bar, select properties and look for the option that enable quick bar
No, the taskbar does. The system tray is also located in the task bar. Quick launch was removed in Windows 7, and replaced by a new taskbar that lets you pin icons to it.

If you use the unlock option you will still have a narrow blue line at the bottom. But the taskbar basically would be hidden. If you use the autohide option the taskbar will hide completely automatically. But when you move the cursor at the place where the taskbar suppose to be the taskbar will pop up.
type internet into the start menu then click internet explorer.Then look to the very bottom and you should see a icon. Right click it and click pin to taskbar. then do this again but click pin to start menu. Makes things much easier
