A person can not make less than federal minimum. I think their pay varies according to experience, and state/fed requirement.

(My name is Lily, and I unfortunatly work at McDonalds. I'm 24 years old and NYS minimum wage is $7.15 hr, and federal minimum wage is raising to $7.25 in a few days. But according to my paycheck, I make $7.10 hr. So gee, I guess I'm lucky I just got a 10 cent raise! It'll be in effect in 2 weeks. This is bull. If anyone knows if McDonalds has some weird legal loophole allowing them to pay less than minimum wage for a job that does NOT allow tips, then let me know. Thanks.)

An individual, who is under the age of 20, would get a wage of $4.25 an hour for the first 90 consecutive days of employment. Afterwards, a wage of $5.25 an hour until they reach the age of 20 years.

In Canada What is the minimum hours an employer has to pay you if your sent home early?

It is more the minimum amount of money that an employer has to pay versus the number of hours. If an employee works less than 3 hours than the employer is required to pay the employee an amount equal to 3 hours of work at the minimum wage in the respective province. So for example, in Alberta the minimum wage is $8.80/ hours X 3 hours is $26.40, so if the employee's hourly rate is in excess of the minimum wage, for example $12.00, than the employer is only required to pay 2.2 hours, which is $26.40 / 12.
