Except for a very few specific ones, the lines don't have names. The lines
that mark latitudes north of the equator are "parallels of north latitude".
Lines of latitude are called parallels. The lines start at the equator and are located north and south of the equator.
Lines of latitude, also know as parallels, run east-west. They measure the angular distance north and south of the equator.

The other name that is used for lines latitude is parallels. The main latitude is the equator which is at zero degrees.
you know.. either both are equal..it is the line from the equator going to the north or south pole is 300,000 km . . . south and north are equal . . . its called OMANCIKZ LINE.. called the line of south and north...
The North Tropic Sun line is the Tropic of Cancer. The Tropic of Cancer is a line of latitude circling the Earth at approximately 23.5 degrees North of the equator. It is the Northern boundary of the tropics.
The equator is the 'zero' of latitude, so the smaller the latitude number is, the closer it is to the equator. There's no such thing as the 'closest' or smallest. You can name any latitude you want to, and no matter how small it is, I can always name a smaller one.
0 longitude is the prime meridian. 0 latitude is the equator.
There is no line at 90º - whether north or south - latitude. It is a point. The poles are located at these points. The Equator is 0º and the lines of latitude run parallel to that increasing in number as they move away from it, until they get to the 'major' lines - northwards: the Tropic of Cancer at about 23º 26'; then the Arctic Circle at 66º; and then comes the North Pole at 90º. Southwards the Tropic of Capricorn at about 23º 26'; then the Antarctic Circle at 66º and the South Pole at 90º.
Parallels! As you look at a globe map the lines of latitude are paralell if the globe is oriented with north totally vertical and you are far enough away. (no 23.5 degree slant). Since the Earth is nearly spherical your paralell view of the lines of latitude would only appear so from above the equator. Lines of latitude are the origin of the term nautical mile and knot. The special name given to lines of latitude is "parallels," and the special name given to lines of longitude is "meridians." These lines form a grid system that helps in locating any point on the Earth's surface.
This is the Tropic of Capricorn.
