It is sometimes referred to as a lasso, which is , of course a Western term. Some Lassos used in the Wild West were up to 80 feet long, and coiled when not in use. the device is not, and is not called a Whip, and it is not electrically charged, unlike the fun House dwarf-clown"s (arm) at steeplechase park in days of yore.

* Correction - Wonder Woman carries a lariat, and when she uses it it is the Lasso of Truth. Lasso is a verb, and does not describe the rope but its use.
