The Supreme Court of Canada consists of a Chief Justice and eight (8) puisne justices, appointed by the Governor General-in-Council. At least three (3) of the justices on the Supreme Court must be appointed from the province of Québec.
A Missouri Supreme Court Justice initially serves for one year. After they have served at least one year, they are placed on the General Election Ballot and the Missouri voters vote to keep him/her on the Supreme Court. If they are kept on, they are seated on the Supreme Court for twelve years.
As we know, no nation can survive without justice; the same applies to Pakistan. To get justice anyone can plea case with lower or high courts. Lower courts are lead by session judges while high courts are lead by Chief Justices (High Court). In 2006, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (appointed 1981) and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (appointed 1993) were the only two women to have served on the US Supreme Court. Justice O'Connor retired at the end of January 2006, leaving Ginsburg the sole female justice on the Court until President Obama appointed Justice Sonia Sotomayor in 2009. Obama appointed a fourth woman, Justice Elena Kagan, in 2010.
Judges.
There have only been two African-Americans on the US Supreme Court so far. The first, Justice Thurgood Marshall, was appointed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1967 and retired in 1991. Justice Marshall died in 1993. The second, Justice Clarence Thomas, was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to succeed Justice Marshall in 1991, and remains on the Court today.
The prospective Justice's names are forwarded to Judicial Nominating Commission who investigates the sutability of the applicants and recommends them to the Governor.
