The UK has not joined the European common currency, the Euro, and still uses Sterling.

Turkey
Albania has also submitted an application, and there have been negotiations and pressures on the Council of the European Union to announce Albania as an official candidate. The fate of Albania's candidacy is laying on the upcoming March elections, which, if they remain a fair, democratic process, and Albania implements all eight of the key policies for accession, Albania will be recommended as an official candidate.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo are both countries who are recognized as future candidates for the EU. Bosnia and Herzegovina has expressed they are in the process of submitting an application since 2009, but no application has been sent. Kosovo is working to tighten integral relations with the European Union, although Kosovo cannot join until it is recognized by all member nations. Currently, four member states, one candidate state, and one future candidate state do not recognize Kosovo.
