If the timing belt on your TDI was not replaced at the recommended 60,000 mile maintenance it is a good chance that the engine was damaged beyond repair. When I purchased my 2003 TDI it had approximately 58,000 miles and I knew that the timing belt, serpintene belt, water pump, and alternator would need repair before another 60,000 miles would be safely accomplished. These repairs seem costly but in the end is a much better alternative to the purchase of a new engine.
