The uncapitalized word "catholic" means inclusive, all-embracing, or extensive; i.e. very wide-ranging in application or effect. The opposites would be narrow, or limited, or restricted.

Opposite of Roman Catholic

Depends on how you look at it: both "pagan" and "heretic" could be "opposite" to Catholic. Under heretics, the founders of Protestantism are included but NOT their descendants, who are individuals raised in a Protestant faith and are in good faith trying to follow God as best they can. They would only be formal heretics, not material ones. Satanists and such would be included under pagans, as well as all those who worship nature religions, mother goddess, mother earth, witchcraft, and so forth.

Is protestant a synonym or a antonym of Catholic?

.Catholic AnswerNeither, really, although some protestants might say synonym, some might say antonym. Synonym means exactly the same, and there have been some high Anglicans who have been trying to claim that for decades. Antonym means exactly the opposite, and the exact opposite of Catholic would probably be pagan or atheist. Protestant is a heresy of the Catholic faith.

What is better being christians or chatolics?

Well, Catholics are Christians. The word "better" makes the question very subjective and will change depending on who you ask. A Catholic will say it is better to be a Catholic but being a Christian who is not Catholic is the next best thing while a Christian who is not Catholic will say the opposite.

In Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches a deacon is an ordained minister of an order ranking below that of priest. There can be no opposite. In these churches there are simply different roles that people play. The laity (or members) have a number of roles reserved for them, the religious (minsiters, nuns, etc) have other roles.
