The word Narcissism is derived from greek mythology. Narcissus was the child of a Blue nymph and a River God. He was an exceptionally beautiful young man, the reason for countless broken hearts. The owner of one of those broken hearts called upon the Gods to have Narcissus cursed, doomed to experience a love that could never be fulfilled. One day as Narcissus stopped by a spring to drink of the water, he saw his own reflection for the first time and promptly fell in love with the beautiful face meeting his gaze from the water. When he realized that it was his own face he was staring at he was engulfed in despair and knowing that he could never obtain the love he'd found in his reflection, he took his own life. Afterwards turning into a Narcissus flower, more commonly known as the Daffodil.
