The parental generation is the first set of parents crossed.
The F1 (first filial) generation consists of all the offspring from the parents - their children.
The F2 (second filial) generation consists of the offspring from allowing the F1 individuals to interbreed - the grandchildren of the parental generation.

How can you do a genetic cross to identify the P genotype?

The genotype of the P (parent) generation can be done by crossing an offspring from the F1 (first filial) generation with one of the gametes from the P generation and then calculating the genotypic and phenotypic ratios. Such an experiment is called a back cross

What is the generation called after the p generation?

F1 and F2

What happens to alleles between the p generation and F2 generation?

In the P generation, one parent is homozygous dominant and the other parent is homozygous recessive. In the F1 generation, the product of a cross between the P generation, the offspring are all heterozygous. In the F2 generation, the product of a cross between the F1 generation, the expected result is 1/4 homozygous dominant, 1/2 heterozygous, and 1/4 homozygous recessive.

What is meant by the P generation?

The parent individuals from which offspring are derived in studies of inheritance

What is the second generation?

The parental generation is called the P generation. The offspring, or filial generation, is called F, with the first generation designated F1, the second F2,etc.

What is the meaning of G in G1?

I believe this is referring to the generations in parent crosses. You are first given two genotypes to cross. This is the parent generation. When you use a punnett square to cross the parent generation (P) you are given the possible genotypes of the first generation of offspring (G1)

When parent plants are crossed scientists refer to the first generation of off spring as?

Its either p,f2,1f,or f1

What is F1 generation?

F1 stands for 1st Filal generation. In short this is the first generation of offspring from different parents. The terminology is often used in genetics and plant breeding to describe the first generation. In more simple terms a baby can be seen as the F1 generation of both of its parents.

When a small group of individuals leaves the parent establishes a new population is called what?

generation

What is te first generation of offspring in mendels experiments called?

What was the second generation of offspring in Mendel's expierment called?

The parental generation is called the P generation. The offspring, or filial generation, is called F, with the first generation designated F1, the second F2,etc.
