More than likely you've got a leak somewhere in the head gasket or the block. Probably more expensive to fix than the car is worth, especially if the leak is in the block. Check the coolant level frequently and carry a gallon of coolant. Drain the oil and refill frequently cuz coolant in the oil pan is a bad thing.
i had same problem on my 94 cutlass supreme...long story short, it was the ignition switch. $300. at shop.
Blown fuse?
Rev servo inop for some reason. Takeit to the trans shop.
First off, check your engine coolant tank. If it's low, then that's the problem. Put more coolant in. If it's at the correct level, then look to see if there's gunk buildup. Second, is your engine overheating? If the engine is not overheating, and there is gunk buildup in the coolant tank, then you may just need to clean the sensor. If there is no gunk in your tank, your coolant level is fine, and your engine is not overheating, then it may be a bad sensor, and you need to replace it.
My '96 is in the shop with the same problem. Bending me over for 400 bucks
Had the same problem a few weeks back.Mileage on 1986 cutlass supreme was close to 400,000 KMS(Canada). Sorry to say transmission needs to be rebuilt.
It means that you need to get the cars computer scanned to find out what the problem is.
It might be a starter going bad. Had the same problem and was told that it just needed a new starter.
Not sure if this is your problem, but my 1996 Olds Cutlass Supreme leaked coolant into the oil. This was caused by broken intake manifold gasket. Apparently they're somewhat notorious for developing leaks. That repair required taking the top half of the engine apart. Not sure where your leak is, or how much it's leaking, but you may want to consider the intake manifold and head gaskets.
the temp control is not the problem. the air direction switch is most likely to be the problem
Means that it probably needs a tune-up, take it in and let them put it on the engine machine to find the problem instead of throwing parts at the problem.
Check the coolant temp sensor, or just replace it if you have the money to burn.
