how to start a 1993 chevy tahoe without a key
I had the same problem with my 98 Tahoe. It ended up being the security sensor. The system was recording a security breach and would not start the vehicle. The dealer told me it was reading the chip in the key wrong. You can try and see if this is also your problem. Barrie form Van. B.C.
Not much info to go on. Ask a trusted mechanic in your area to diagnose it for you.
Turn your key to the run position without attempting to crank. Leave it in this position for about 10 seconds. If your Tahoe is equipped with the battery meter, let the meter reach its peak. Then attemp to start.
sometimes after a few trys it will start on it's own.
Dead or weak battery?
I had the same problem with my 99 2 door 4x4 Tahoe and couldn't figure it out. I had replaced the fuel pump when it went out months before. Turns out that aftermarket fuel pumps are not a good Idea. After going back to a genuine GM fuel pump, I had no more pump noise and start up is instant and purs like a kitten.
I ran into this with a '97 Yukon (same vehicle) and after months of running into this problem intermittently, it turned out to be a small harness in the distributor housing that had corroded ... discovered this after already replacing the obvious ... cap / rotor / coil / and ignition module.
I would start with a tune up
Tanganyika .
I had this problem for quite awhile - seemed like it only happened when I was out of state though. Finally found one mechanic who solved the problem; said my ignition switch had a short in it. Haven't had a problem with it since he replaced it 18 months ago. Hope this helps. Just wanted to add once your securtiy light stablizes start your engine then take the securtiy fuse from box inside car and this should disable system allowing veh. to start every time.
If that is the only problem, then yes.
