what is the procedure that the doctor uses? it is called "stripping the membranes". He does this a few times in the month leading up to the due date.
that depends on who does it... a doctor.....yes a bloke from the pub......no
My cervix was unable to dilate after 9 hours of hard labor. I was induced and the doctors told me that they had the pitocin level as high as they could put it without rupturing my uterus. My doctor told me that I didn't dilate because I have a condition where my cervix is tightly knit together with something similar to scar tissue. I have never had any cervical trauma to induce this. My doctor told me that it is hereditary. I am adopted so do not know if my birth mother experienced this as well.
Yup!
call your doctor
The doctor will tell you when you have an exam and then you will go in for an outpatient surgery to open it.
It doesn't mean anything is wrong. I have a tilted cervix. Sometimes it makes becoming pregnant more difficult, but I had no problem getting pregnant. My doctor said it's normal and nothing to worry about.
Generally, a woman must dilate 10 centimeters before a doctor will instruct her to begin the journey of pushing the baby out.
If the doctor knows you are 30 weeks pregnant and wants to do it, it's probably safe. If you have questions, talk to the doctor and find out if there are any risks and what they are.
I am no Expert, or Pro on this subject but my girlfriend is currently pregnant and i have asked many question and read a lot on subjects like these. according to our doctor and a couple books there is a hormone in sperm which reacts with a hormone in the cervix which some say can cause it to dilate...... on the other hand this is not a fact. it has not been prooven 100% in my opinion my wife is nine months and 2 days past due we have had sex for the last week before her due date and ive injected my sperm in her each time and she has not dialated anymore then before she is now 2 days past due and she is still only 2cm.
Who knows, ask a doctor or somthin
== == If you want to start contractions try playing with your nipples, you or your partner. Also climax works as well. Flights of stairs. I do not recommend Castor oil. it is harmful and you wont get the result that you are wanting == == == == == == Don't know for sure about actually dilating, but to start up labor [get it going faster] walking "A LOT" WORKS WONDERS!!
Women who are pregnant, or who suspect that they are pregnant, must tell their doctor before the procedure begins. Pregnant women can, and should, have a colposcopy if they have an abnormal Pap test.
