Look on top of the intake manifold for the firing order. Then make sure they are in the right order at the distributor.
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor rotates counter clockwise
The wire sequence on the distributor cap just goes 1 thru 6, clockwise, starting from the number one position (which should be marked either on the cap or distributor).
1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE
The firing order is 1,3,4,2. The number one is the one closest to the drivers side tire. There is usually a mark, sometimes an A or A1, on the top of the distributor cap indicating the number one cylinder.
1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the REAR and slightly towards the drivers side The engine cylinder / spark plug locations are numbered : firewall 4 - 8 3 - 7 2 - 6 1 - 5 front
As you face the engine the first spark plug wire on your left is connected tot he first cylinder. Trace it back to the distributor and you will have the proper hole. If you have no wires connected then it is usually positioned at about 1 oclock as you face the distributor. (assuming the distributor is properly positioned)
1 is where the rotor is when number 1 cylinder is firing. Then clockwise from 1, 8,4,3,6,5,7,2.
What is the sequence of events associated with the proper functioning of the pacemaker?
The ignition coil pack is bolted to the cylinder head left side when facing the car from front bumper. It's on the cylinder head closest to the front bumper as well. This vehicle does not have an actual distributor because there are 3 ignition coils that fire at the proper time (if you're interested it's called the waste-spark method). The multiple ignition coils eliminate the need for a distributor.
you need to bring cylinder 1 piston up to top dead center on compression stroke then turning the oil pump drive shaft so the distributor rotor faces #1 on the distributor cap.
Relative dating is the process that places geologic events in the proper sequence.
The Rendezvous has an electronic ignition control system. It does not have a distributor cap that would have a node inside it spinning around to make contacts to fire the sparkplugs. Instead it's yet another thing controlled by a computer that triggers the sparkplugs in proper sequence to run your engine.
