What is the purpose of a housefly and what would happen if it became extinct?

If flies were to become extinct, there are two things that could happen:
1. Diseases would drop majourly.
2. Dying matter/ feces/ decaying matter would last longer and NOT be pretty.
Simply, the fly is to simply exist, and nothing more.
