well unfortunatley I went through the same issue with my Camaro. Every car has it's own special code. ( what happend ur battery died?) Now here is the tricky part you can either try to contact the dealer/ previous owner of the car and see if they have it. If they dont have it then you have to take it to a dealer and they hook it up to a computer and read the code off for you. The good news is after this you will have it. I believe you can also ask them to disable this also.
The selling dealer may have the code, if not you need to remove radio, write down all the info on back of radio and have a dealer look up numbers to get code.

The code to reset the radio is specific to your car. No one will know that code. If you cannot find the code written down somewhere, contact your Buick dealer for instructions on how to get the code. The radio may need to be removed to get the radio serial # and with that the code, or the selling dealer may have it on file.

Most late 90s Nissan stuff has a 'how long have I been flashing Err' timeout. Turning it off will not help. Nor will removing power again. It actually needs to be left on for an hour or two flashing 'Err', before the Code entry will be possible again. So just leave it flashing at you for a day or so when you drive it, it will ask you for the code again soon enough. The "Err" message, basically means that you took too many goes at entering the code.
If the battery has been pulled or the radio has been touched while the car is off, the radio can require a security code. This is usually included with your owners manual. If it is not there anymore, then you can contact your Nissan dealership and they can provide you with the code.
