Your engine needs a complete flush and new starter. I had the same problem with a similar type vehicle from the same year. I also suggest replacing all hoses and fluids with synthetics. It made my baby good as new.
Did you check your fuses???
I would advice of buying a Haynes Repair Manual for your blazer. Not only does it include ALL the wiring diagrams, it shows your step by step on almost every replacement you could think of
yes you can. pretty much every chevy trans has the same bolt patern. you will just need a transfer case that will bolt up with a passenger drop for the front axle.
There are four o2 sensors on a 1996 Chevy blazer all on the exhaust, of course, there are three ahead of the convertors and one between the convertor and muffler. on the right hand bank. should be changed every 60,000 miles.

The firing order is 123456. it is like this on every Chevy 6 cyl motor My brother has a 89 S10 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 with a 6cyl engine in it, and stamped on top of the engine just in front of the air cleaner it reads Engine Timing 165432.
I would suspect a faulty fuel pump. I just did one with those symptoms.
The original coolant would have been "DexCool". The cooling system should be flushed and coolant replaced every 5 years or 100K miles if you use DexCool.
A vacuum leak would do that. Check the base gasket under the throttle body.
