Judaism created the groundwork or frame on which Christianity was established. Like the Muslims, they all accept the monotheistic concept and are all people of "the book".

There are quite numerous similarities, but here are a few off the top of my head.

Shared between Christianity and Judaism:

  • Elijah will return.
  • The concept of a single God, and the same one.
  • They both believe in Adam and Eve.
  • The idea that the Jews will have a promised land.
  • The Ten Commandments.
  • Abraham and his descendants will be a source of blessings to all people of the world.
  • Both look forward to the coming of the Messiah. (Though Christians believe it will be his second coming).
  • Both believe in the gathering of Israel.
  • The idea that We are all Children of God.
  • Both believe Moses led the children of Israel out of bondage.

It should also be noted that Christ was a practicing Jew. It was only his death and resurrection that fulfilled the Jewish prophecies and replaced the Jewish "law" with salvation as a path to heaven.

I propose this as one of the connections: The texts of the Old Testament, as supplemented by other Jewish traditions and writings present an unfinished (story) of God at work in the world. Christians would argue (although most Jews would disagree) that Christianity constitutes the proper continuation of that same narrative.

  1. The father of the prophets of the three religions is the prophet Abraham (PBUH)
  2. Prophet Abraham (or Ibrahim); peace be upon him; as well as prophet Moses (peace be upon him) are common prophets that are believed in by the three religions.
  3. The followers of the three religions worship the same God as the one and only one God with no partner, no son, no father, no companion, no associate, and no equivalence (despite the some Christians belief in the Trinity although Jesus didn't say it or call for it)
  4. The three religions follow almost the same ten commandments or variations of it
  5. The three religions share almost same morals
  6. Although the Jews don't believe in Jesus as neither prophet not son of God and although both the Jews and Christians don't believe in Muhammad (PBUH) as God prophet, Muslims believe in both Moses and Jesus as two of the five greatest prophets; namely Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them)
  7. Although the Jews and Christians consider Muslims as unbelievers, Muslims consider Jews and Christians 'people of the book' as they are holders of the holy books Torah and The Bible.
Another additional viewJews believe in a coming savior.

Christians believe that Jesus was the savior promised to the Jews, and thus Christianity replaces the out of date Judaism. Jews, obviously, disagree.

Muslims believe that Jesus was another prophet whose words were misunderstood, so God (that's what "Allah" means) sent another prophet, Muhammad to clarify things. To reduce the possibility of confusion, the words of God, send through Muhammad, must never be translated from the original Arabic. Thus, Muslims believe that Jews and Christians worship the same god, but have become lost. Christians and Jews, obviously, disagree.

In reality, there really are no connections/similarities to best describe the Judeo-Christian beliefs of God to the Muslim Islamic belief.

Judaism and Christianity have the Old Testament in common. Islam believes both OT and NT have been partially corrupted in transmission while the Koran is believed by Muslims to be the final and infallible revelation of God's will.

Though Muslims believe in God which they call Allah, Islam teaches that Allah is all-powerful, sovereign and 'unknowable' while Judaism and Christianity both teach the Creator God to be revealed as merciful, compassionate and knowable (see Jeremiah 9:24 and John 17:3).

The Christian text teaches the God of the Old Testament was the Word and it was He who Abraham and the other patriarchs and prophets worshiped. Islam teaches the Word, aka Jesus 'as one of perhaps 124,000 messengers of prophets Allah has sent and is one of the 25 listed in the Koran - but He is not the redeemer' (Marvin Olasky, "Islam vs. Liberty," World, Sept 10, 2011).

All in all, there are more differences and conflicts between the Judeo-Christian texts and the Muslim text, as well as the Koranic conflicts with secular history.

The origins of Christianity were based on Judaism (Old Testament). They share the same Father God and creator.

They didn't get along, because Christians believed that Jesus Is God's Son, while Jews did not.
