The word "Renaissance" come from a word meaning "rebirth in the interest of arts." Before the Renaissance, people thought life was all about suffering and hard work on Earth until you got to heaven. During the Renaissance, people started to explore and invent. They discovered that life wasn't all suffering and started to invent and trade. Guilds were set up and traits were learned. Humanism was created (the study of man and his accomplishments). The Bible was translated from Latin (which the peasents couldn't understand) to the vernacular language (the common language of the pesants-the poor people). Many great artists lived during this time. The time period was around 1400~1600ad. Five famous people: Michelangelo, Leonardo da vinci, Donatello, Raphael, and Galileo. The biggest family known during this time, Medici, gave several leaders; also, they patroned Michelangelo.
