In a dictatorial nation, the media often serves as a tool for Propaganda to promote the government's agenda and suppress dissenting voices. It can be used to control information flow, manipulate public opinion, and shape the narrative to favor the ruling regime. Independent journalism is usually restricted, and journalists may face censorship, harassment, or imprisonment for criticizing the government.

Democracy equals - fairness basically. so un-democratic would be an unfairness.

Media equals - Knowledge basically.

So MEDIA in an un-democratic country would be, used as a way to Scare, Control and Manipulate. The Role would be a TOOL of CONTROL.

A state run media means that the populace can be kept in ignorance as to what is actually happening, either in their own country, or in the rest of the world. The intense censorship in China is an example of the state being in total control.
