If it's an electronic dash, then dry solder joints are possible, (Happened to my 1988 pintara) look for a hairline crack around any solder joint. Fix by simply soldering over the joint. (Make sure you use electrical solder and iron.)

The digital cluster has 6 slot for the odometer, so 999,999
Generally on a digital odometer the mileage is stored in an eeprom chip, this chip can be reprogrammed provided you have the right tools. However you should be able to take your odometer cluster out and disassemble it to get to the eeprom chip - not an easy task for everybody. Many Companies will also "recalibrate" your odometer and charge a fee for the service. Machines and reprogrammers for doing this are available in China at various prices. It goes without saying that reprogramming a digital odometer is illegal in most, but not all cases.
If the digital odometer is not displaying its readout or is working intermittently it is a common occurrence that there is a bad solder connection on the instrument cluster. When the digital odometer is not displaying its readout or the digital odometer displays intermittently this problem is frequently reported along with the vehicles tachometer not displaying any readout or working on an intermittent basis as well. The link below shows the steps to repair a bad solder joint on an instrument cluster. It is fully illustrated and not too difficult, took me about an hour from start to finish.http://members.cox.net/dpeters30/97_sebring_dash.htm
Mostly all the vehicles that I have worked on with a digital odometer cannot be lowered. Their is an actual manual odometer that reads to the engine computer that sends digital readout to the odometer, that cannot be reset or changed if you were to try to it would disable the vehicle and would need to be taken to the manufacturer garage for service to reset computer but would still give old odometer reading. If the computer were to come out of another car the odometer still wouldn't change. Government is very very strict with odometers these days. I disagree with above that digital odometers "can't" be tampered with, indeed they can provided the right hardware/software is available, many digital odometers can be manipulated through a connection made on the cars diagnostic plug or through connections made to the instrument panel cluster. A search of the internet will show up many companies that sell hardware/software to do digital odometers
If the speedometer works, but the odometer is not working, there could be a fuse blown if the odometer is digital. If the odometer is not digital, then a gear is broken in the speedometer cable. It should be replaced.
Have fun with this oneMost of the sunfire clusters (odometer, RPM, Speed) are sealed and the odometer is digital like an alarm clock and can not be changed without replacement of the entire cluster (odometer, RPM, Speed) good luck... this will require the removal of the dashboard in most cases. Andrew, a CANADIAN apprenticeI'm not sure about newer Sunfires - but the information above is incorrect regarding older models. I replaced the bulbs on my instrument cluster without opening or compromising it on my 99 Sunfire. You have to remove the dashboard, then remove the instrument cluster. On the back of the cluster, you'll find that you can unscrew the bulbs from the back and replace them.--- CanadianCynosure
those are bad about going bad it is probably your guage cluster.
You will need to remove the instrument cluster board. To do that, remove the trim piece around the instrument cluster, then carefully pull the instrument cluster out of the dashboard. Note that the instrument cluster plugs in to a socket in the dashboard, so be careful as you remove the circuit board so that you do not damage the plug. Once the instrument cluster is out, replace all bulbs. They twist to remove, and if the odometer bulb has failed, the others are getting old too. It might be best to replace them all to avoid future problems.
Where is the fuse for the digital cluster dash in a 1992 Chevy S10?
if the cluster still lights up but the speedo still inop possible cause is the speed sensor in the transmition
Not knowing the year, make and model vehicle it limits how much we can help you. If the speedometer cluster is digital and both the speedometer and odometer is not working I would suspect the vehicle speed sensor is at fault. If only the speedometer is not working I would suspect the dash cluster is at fault.
