YOU WILL NEED AN OBD II SCANNER AND THE LOCATION OF THE PLUG IS IN THE CENTER CONSOLE.(FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF CENTER CONSOLE)
There is no speed governer, the car's powertrain control module is responsible for not only governing the speed, but making the car work.
For 1998 V70XC, AWD, my fuel filter is behind rear axle on right/passenger side. Co-located with the roll over valve.
You need an OBD scanner or take it to your local Auto Parts store. Stores like Advance auto parts can usually read codes for you. The generic codes they read out can be converted to Volvo's OBD codes. The generic codes usually start with the letter P.
Switch the ignition without starting the car to "drive-mode" (number 2) and hold down the trip-button for a few seconds, turn of the ignition and wait for a few seconds and it will be gone.
Pull the inner door panel and unplug the window motor. Get a power source (booster pack, spare battery) and use two wires to power up the motor manually so it goes up then leave it unplugged until the problem is fixed.
Get in the car and locate the trip odometer reset button. Turn the switch on. Make sure it is in the trip1 or T1 position. If not depress the button to change from t2 to t1. Now turn the switch back off and depress the odometer button and turn the key to position 2. When the service light starts to blink release the button and turn the switch off. When you start the car the light should be out. It may take a couples tries to get your timing right in the press release and key functions
