The below specs are correct.
The V-6 cars are particularly sensitive to spark plugs & plug wires. Many Contour/Mystique/Cougar owners have had very good results with stock Motorcraft wires or Autolite professional series wires. Some of the edges of the Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) are sharp, so be careful during install don't let the wires get damaged. The best plugs for these cars appear to be the Autolite APP764 double platinum plugs. Other plugs, including all of the fancy expensive ones I've heard of, generally become useless after only 30k miles or sooner.
