mucus cells (NOT goblet cells) make and secrete mucus into the gastric pit of the stomach lumen. The mucus covers the stomach protecting it from the acidic environment of HCL (pH aprox 2) that could harm the stomach without this mucus lining.

An enteric coated tablet has a shell that prevents it from dissolving in the stomach. If chewed the shell will be broken and the medicine will encounter the stomach wall. Enteric coatings seek to prevent this because some medicines are harmful to the stomach but not to the small intestine where they are digested.

Your stomach is coated with mucous coat. This is made of sugars and there is no peptide bond, there in mucous. So the stomach is protected from the killing action of pepsin enzyme on the stomach wall.
My doc gave me those tablets when i had a stomach upset.
They do (as do stomach acids {even faster & better}), but slowly as the stomach is lined (coated) with mucus, which "prevents" physical contact.
The stomach wall is coated in thick mucus to block the gastric acid. The stomach also quickly generates new layers of flesh if a hole is made in the coat of mucus
Because this would make the enteric coating coating useless and may upset the users stomach. An enteric coated tablet has a material that allows the tablet to pass through the stomach to the small intestine before the medication is released reducing the chance of stomach problems. The protective coating on medications is meant to delay absorption until the medicine reaches the small intestine. The coating is used on medications that can irritate the stomach lining, or that taste so bitter that few people would take the medicine. Never remove the enteric coating from medications as this can cause stomach irritation, burning, and stomach pain.
The stomach muscle is a smooth muscle, and its coated with a smooth membrane like film to protect it.
