When Patrick was young he was kidnapped by Irish slave-traders and taken to Ireland. Patrick's life had been very easy before this as his Father was very high up in authority. When he was in Ireland Patrick was sold to a Tribal leader to work as a shepherd. He had been working as a shepherd for six years not coming into contact with any humans in that time. He had become devoted to God and had begun to pray 100 times a day and again at night. One day whilst Patrick was washing in a spring he had a vision from God saying that there was a boat waiting to take him home. Patrick ran away, managing to evade any of the tribe trying to catch him and returned to England.

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland who is credited with bringing Christianity to the Irish people. He was a missionary who converted many pagans to Christianity through his teachings and miracles. St. Patrick is also known for driving the snakes out of Ireland, a symbolic act representing the banishment of evil from the land.

St. Patrick was abducted from his homeland in Britain (Wales or Scotland) and sold as a slave to a pagan Druid chieftain. He was forced to work as a shepherd for 6 years after which he escaped and got back to Britain. He converted to Christianity and studied for the priesthood in Europe. The pope sent him back to Britain as a bishop and was told to evangelize in both Britain and Ireland.
