The story of "The Greenhouse Effect and the Women of Guatemala" was written by Tina B Carver, a well-known TESOL teacher and writer.
This story is about the women who planted many trees in their country because of a new factory that was being built in Connecticut. This factory emitted tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that would increase global warming and the greenhouse effect. Trees grow faster in Guatamala, and the country had also lost a lot of trees through deforestation, so the factory owners paid two million dollars for women in Guatamala to plant trees that will absorb the carbon dioxide emitted by the factory.
