Exposition (The Beginning)
Brother Fernando was assigned to the monastery in Santo Domingo church in Manila. He felt weird because the old man was bringing a bowl of milk and putting it on the balete tree . The old man was performing his ritual and he put flowers around his surroundings. And then after that the old man came back and proceeds to the sacristy to get the bowl. Brother Fernando said to the old man that “look the you were praising the non-existing God” but the old man didn’t bother looking to him .
Conflict:
The next night, Brother Fernando faced against the window and he witness that the serpent was moving towards the bowl of milk. Arrived at the bowl, Brother fernando feel lost and terrified in Horror and the night ended up and the jewel was being vanished.
Climax:
Brother Fernando felt asleep and he dreamed about the blessed virgin. The blessed virgin Mary speak to him and the room was filled with music. Brother Fernando was silent and he told the virgin Mary about her looks and simplicity. He then thinks that he will return back the jewel to her.
Resolution:
When it’s almost midnight, Brother Fernando brings his sword, a sword he use when he was a soldier. He go to the chapel and pray to the Virgin Mary while he was waiting for the serpent. When the serpent has arrived, its hissed is threatening the friar but he was brave because of the Virgin Mary.
Conclusion:
He ran to the door and he forgot about the jewel so he just turn around and picked some of the shiny stones. And then he cried and went to the chapel and offer it to the blessed virgin. The blessed virgin came down and he ran to her. He drop his knees and laid the jewel at the blessed virgin's feet and swooned away.
