9 - 10 degrees
In a word, yes. It should bolt right up with no problems.
yes you can, you will need new motor mounts and have to go with a HEI distriburetor so you can eliminate the computer.
Hopefully someone with the correct answer will improve this answer, but a shortblock weighs 290. That is a 350 block with crank, rods, pistons, and cam.
350-85 = 265
First off, a 350, is a small block. And, if you are talking about the torque output of the motor, well, that depends upon how it is built, and, with what parts. Anwhere from 150 ft., lbs., to 500. If you are talking about the bolt torque specs, it varies from 35 ft., lbs., to 85, depending on which bolts you are talking about.
The block alone doesn't determine HP.The block is 1980-85 350 ci with 4 bolt main caps, came out of a truck.
No the diameter of the crank journals are different.
Any small block chevy(262 - 400 excluding 396) from 1955 to current will fit in your car. Depending on the year of the engine you could need more parts than others. So yes the 85 350 will fit. you may have to change the bell houseing on the tranny....well and of course the exhaust
No, from what I know for sure, Pre-85 22r blocks have a dual timing chain which is stronger and lasts longer. Also not 100% sure but I read there is a difference in height of the blocks as well. Pre-85 block with dual timing chain is needed to do a 22r/20r hybrid.
yes it will I've even bolted a 700R4 on a 85 (305)
YES! You can put ANY small block Chevy into a Fiero. Visit here, http://www.v8archie.com/, there you can find the conversion kit (minus the engine) and answers to all of your questions.
Usually start out at about 8 BTDC and advance a little at a time until pinging is noticed, then back off 2 degrees.
