Not sure on the spec. most people tighten them to much & that pushes out the gasket. I use permatex #2 (Do not use #1 you will never get it off) Put a thin layer on the head & the cover. place gasket on the cover & use a thin wire (wire from a bread bar-remove the paper/plastic covering) at each hole to secure the gasket to coner. place on head & tighten just snug. If by some chance it leaks just tighten an 1/8 or 1/4 turn. Ihve never had a leak doing it this way
